Community still waiting for answers on the future of battery plant

Unifor Local 444 President Dave Cassidy says he is on the phone daily as the community continues to wait for answers from Stellantis.

"I'm hoping in the next day or so that we're going to have that positive answer, and if not, you can make sure that I'm on top of these roofs screaming 'cause we're going to get this complete. Come hell or high water, we're going to get his complete," said Cassidy.

Over one week ago, the federal government presented Stellantis with a deal for the NextStar Energy plant in Windsor.

"They have to make sure that everything is correct and all the t's crossed and i's dotted before they bring it out," said Cassidy. "I did not think it would be this long. I'm really antsy I don't sleep at night over this."

It's been over a month since Stellantis paused construction on a portion of the planned facility claiming the government was not living up to financial commitments made to the company.
