Crews tackle two Windsor fires in 24 hours

Windsor fire crews were busy Wednesday evening and Thursday morning with two house fires.

Windsor Fire and Rescue says the first one that took place was reported shortly after 5:30 p.m. Wednesday on Cataraqui Street off Howard Avenue. Few details are available for that incident, but the fire was put out quickly. A pot left on the stove was described as the cause.

The second fire was reported shortly after 1 a.m. Thursday on Kenilworth Drive, off Howard Avenue, near Devonshire Mall.

The fire was declared out just before 2 a.m., and fire crews performed an overhaul and venting. Two people were displaced, with the cause undetermined. The damage estimate was $500,000.

No one was injured in either fire.

Two men arrested in Tashmoo Ave. standoff

Sarnia police said the investigation began on May 29 after the victim was allegedly attacked by acquaintances at a residence near Tashmoo Avenue and Christopher Drive at Aamjiwnaang First Nation.
