Former St. Anne's High School getting a new name

The former St. Anne's High School in Tecumseh is getting a new name to match its new use for the Catholic school board.

The school will now be known as the St. Anne Catholic Skilled Trades Academy and Learning Centre.

The school is home to the Windsor Essex Catholic District School Board's Ontario Youth Apprenticeship Program for level one masonry, the carpentry academy, and plumbing academy. In September, the board is opening a new welding facility at the school as it continues to grow skilled trades opportunities.

The original St. Anne's High School was closed in 2007. The board sold the south side of the school but retained the North portion of the building.

Between 2007 and 2018 the building was primarily used for storage. Since 2018 the board has been adding programming for students in the skilled trades field.

To reflect the new name of the facility, two signs will be erected.
