LaSalle woman walks away with $100,000

Playing instant tickets has paid off for a lucky LaSalle woman.

Lori Briand, a direct support worker, frequently played scratch-off lottery tickets, and she purchased an Instant Crossword Tripler. Scratching it off, she at first thought she won $20 and put it away.

When she checked the ticket again, she realized she won the game's top prize of $100,000.

Briand picked up her prize cheque at the OLG Prize Centre in Toronto.

"I feel so lucky and grateful," said Briand. "It’s a surreal experience, you never think it’ll happen to you until it does."

Briand plans to travel to Greece with the winnings. She picked up her winning ticket at a 7-Eleven store on Tecumseh Road in Windsor.

The Instant Crossword Tripler scratch-off is $5 a play. The OLG says the odds of winning any prize are 1 in 3.81.
