High levels of air pollution are possible this afternoon.

An AIR QUALITY WARNING is in place due to the possibility of deteriorating air quality. Hot and sunny conditions are expected to cause increasing ground-level ozone concentrations this afternoon. Moderate risk AQHI values are expected throughout the day with the potential of short-term high risk AQHI values in the afternoon.

When air pollution levels are high, everyone should limit time outdoors. Consider reducing or rescheduling outdoor sports, activities and events.

You may experience mild and common symptoms such as eye, nose and throat irritation, headaches or a mild cough. More serious but less common symptoms include wheezing, chest pains or severe cough. If you think you are having a medical emergency, seek immediate medical assistance.

People more likely to be impacted by outdoor air pollution, including people aged 65 and older, pregnant people, infants and young children, people with an existing illness or chronic health condition, and people who work outdoors, should reduce or reschedule strenuous activities outdoors and seek medical attention if experiencing symptoms.

Planning is underway for this year's Leamington Ribfest.The free event is scheduled for July 21 to 23 at the Leamington Agricultural Society Fairgrounds.“We want people to be able to come and enjoy the atmosphere, and be a part of the event," said Chris Glassford, organizer. “ It is important that the community takes part in these events, and enjoys them, as that’s why we host events”.There will be four award-winning barbecuers on hand for this year's event. There will also be carnival rides, a car show, vendors, and other entertainment.Organizers of the Leamington Ribfest are still looking for sponsors and local business partners.
