Tecumseh unveils new sculpture on the beach

A Wheatley artist known for her woodworking skills has completed Tecumseh's latest sculpture at Lakewood Park North.

Heather Mallaby has transformed an old tree stump into a work of art for the public to enjoy.

The Town of Tecumseh plans to unveil the work on the beach at 11 a.m. on Monday.

The Windsor-Essex Community Foundation sponsored the sculpture, and a direct descendant of Chief Tecumseh, Patricia Shawnoo, will unveil it.

The project commemorates the foundation's 40th anniversary.

Members of the Tecumtha Ogitchada Society will provide traditional singing and drumming during the unveiling ceremony.

Lakewood Park North Beach is on Riverside Drive East at the foot of Manning Road.
