High levels of air pollution are possible this afternoon.

An AIR QUALITY WARNING is in place due to the possibility of deteriorating air quality. Hot and sunny conditions are expected to cause increasing ground-level ozone concentrations this afternoon. Moderate risk AQHI values are expected throughout the day with the potential of short-term high risk AQHI values in the afternoon.

When air pollution levels are high, everyone should limit time outdoors. Consider reducing or rescheduling outdoor sports, activities and events.

You may experience mild and common symptoms such as eye, nose and throat irritation, headaches or a mild cough. More serious but less common symptoms include wheezing, chest pains or severe cough. If you think you are having a medical emergency, seek immediate medical assistance.

People more likely to be impacted by outdoor air pollution, including people aged 65 and older, pregnant people, infants and young children, people with an existing illness or chronic health condition, and people who work outdoors, should reduce or reschedule strenuous activities outdoors and seek medical attention if experiencing symptoms.

A 21-year-old Windsor man faces charges after the OPP pulled over a vehicle at a RIDE checkpoint on Hwy. 401 in Chatham-Kent.Around 3 p.m. on Sunday, the Ontario Provincial Police were conducting a checkpoint near the westbound ramp to Victoria Road when they stopped a vehicle and noticed an open container of alcohol inside.The investigating officer also discovered the driver was violating a previous release order.The charges are having an open container of liquor in a motor vehicle, failure to comply with a release order, and being a novice driver with a blood alcohol content above zero.The suspect was held for bail.The OPP encourage the driving public to report impaired drivers by calling 911 or the OPP at 1-888-310-1122.
