Windsor police arrest suspect in series of break-and-enters

A 45-year-old man has been charged following a series of break-and-enters across Windsor this year.

The Windsor police's Target Base Unit had been tracking burglaries between February and July of this year. In each incident, the suspect forced entry and stole various items, including jewelry and cash.

Five homes were hit altogether. Police tell WindsorNewsToday.ca that three of the homes affected were in the Riverside and East Riverside area, one was in the South Cameron section, and one in Fontainebleau.

The Target Base Unit eventually identified the suspect as a Windsor man. He was arrested without incident on Friday in the parking lot of a business on Tecumseh Road East near Jefferson Boulevard.

He is charged with five counts of break-and-enter to commit theft.

The charges have not been proven in court.

The investigation is ongoing. Anyone with information should call the Windsor police Target Base Unit at (519) 255-6700, ext. 4350. Anonymous tips may be submitted to Crime Stoppers at (519) 258-TIPS (8477).
