Essex launches grant program to beautify streetscapes

Those who own commercial or industrial properties in Essex and want to enhance the aesthetic appeal of their buildings can now apply for a grant from the Town of Essex.

The town launched its Essex Streetscape Facade Improvement Grant Program. It provides eligible property owners with up to $2,000 in funding per building.

The funds are non-repayable and do not require a minimum contribution from property owners.

Everything from repairs and restoration, accessibility improvements, canopies and awnings, lighting, and signage qualify.

"It's an exciting initiative that encourages property owners to invest in the revitalization of their buildings," said Mayor Sherry Bondy. "We are happy to offer this incredible opportunity to our local business owners as we continue to improve our downtown core."

Applications can be submitted online on the town's website.
