Suspect arrested after bank robbery

A 46-year-old was arrested after a downtown bank robbery Tuesday afternoon.

The Windsor Police Service reported a man entered a bank on Ouellette Avenue near Riverside Drive around 1:30 p.m. He walked behind the counter and grabbed money from a cash register before taking off.

No one at the bank was injured during the incident.

Officers were called to the area and arrested a suspect nearby on Chatham Street West.

Police continue to investigate and are asking anyone with information about the incident to contact the Major Crimes Unit at 519-255-6700, ext. 4830.

Sarnia police said the investigation began on May 29 after the victim was allegedly attacked by acquaintances at a residence near Tashmoo Avenue and Christopher Drive at Aamjiwnaang First Nation.
