Police target shoplifters at local stores

Windsor police arrested 11 people for shoplifting at two local department stores this week.

Officers from the POP (Problem-Oriented Policing) Unit teamed up with the loss prevention teams at both stores for a targeted operation to thwart retail theft.

Between July 26 and 28, over $4,500 of stolen merchandise was recovered and 11 people were arrested and charged with theft under $5,000. One suspect was also charged with breach of probation.

A 58-year-old man was also arrested on an outstanding warrant for theft.

Two men arrested in Tashmoo Ave. standoff

Sarnia police said the investigation began on May 29 after the victim was allegedly attacked by acquaintances at a residence near Tashmoo Avenue and Christopher Drive at Aamjiwnaang First Nation.
