High levels of air pollution are possible this afternoon.

An AIR QUALITY WARNING is in place due to the possibility of deteriorating air quality. Hot and sunny conditions are expected to cause increasing ground-level ozone concentrations this afternoon. Moderate risk AQHI values are expected throughout the day with the potential of short-term high risk AQHI values in the afternoon.

When air pollution levels are high, everyone should limit time outdoors. Consider reducing or rescheduling outdoor sports, activities and events.

You may experience mild and common symptoms such as eye, nose and throat irritation, headaches or a mild cough. More serious but less common symptoms include wheezing, chest pains or severe cough. If you think you are having a medical emergency, seek immediate medical assistance.

People more likely to be impacted by outdoor air pollution, including people aged 65 and older, pregnant people, infants and young children, people with an existing illness or chronic health condition, and people who work outdoors, should reduce or reschedule strenuous activities outdoors and seek medical attention if experiencing symptoms.

LaSalle police have cited a young driver who was allegedly caught doing double the speed limit while driving with alcohol in their system.An officer conducted a traffic stop at around 2 a.m. Tuesday on Malden Road. The driver had been clocked doing 109 kilometres per hour in a 50-kilometre-per-hour zone.The driver was a 20-year-old man who had a G2 driver's licence, a condition of which was violated when a roadside test determined that the driver had consumed alcohol.Holders of a G2 licence may drive on any Ontario highway but must maintain a zero blood-alcohol level at all times.The driver's licence was suspended for 30 days, and his vehicle impounded for 14 days.
