High levels of air pollution are possible this afternoon.

An AIR QUALITY WARNING is in place due to the possibility of deteriorating air quality. Hot and sunny conditions are expected to cause increasing ground-level ozone concentrations this afternoon. Moderate risk AQHI values are expected throughout the day with the potential of short-term high risk AQHI values in the afternoon.

When air pollution levels are high, everyone should limit time outdoors. Consider reducing or rescheduling outdoor sports, activities and events.

You may experience mild and common symptoms such as eye, nose and throat irritation, headaches or a mild cough. More serious but less common symptoms include wheezing, chest pains or severe cough. If you think you are having a medical emergency, seek immediate medical assistance.

People more likely to be impacted by outdoor air pollution, including people aged 65 and older, pregnant people, infants and young children, people with an existing illness or chronic health condition, and people who work outdoors, should reduce or reschedule strenuous activities outdoors and seek medical attention if experiencing symptoms.

Residents in LaSalle will not have the option of taking a swim at the Vollmer Culture and Recreation Complex starting on Tuesday.The Town of LaSalle is closing the pool, sauna, and hot tub on September 5 for annual maintenance.Those amenities will reopen on September 29.In the meantime, residents can take a dip at the public outdoor pool on Front Road at Laurier Drive, expect on Labour Day Monday.The outdoor pool is open for free recreational swims every Saturday from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. until September 23.
