Boat explosion sends four to the hospital

Police in LaSalle are investigating an explosion onboard a boat that sent four people to the hospital on Monday.

Police said seven people were onboard when vapour from the engine compartment ignited.

A large contingent of firefighters and paramedics quickly responded to Beattie's Sunset Marina on Front Road around 3 p.m.

Paramedics took the four injured boaters to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

The boat did not sink, but there is damage to the engine and the surrounding compartments.
