OPP arrest alleged speeder suspected of impaired driving

The Ontario Provincial Police will tell you stunt driving is dangerous enough without adding alcohol into the mix, but it could have been worse.

Instead of facing a charge for stunt driving and another for driving impaired, a 25-year-old Windsor man could have been seriously hurt or killed.

An OPP officer on patrol on County Road 22 spotted a vehicle going more than 70 km/h over the speed limit early Saturday morning.

The speed limit is 80 km/h.

After stopping the vehicle, the officer suspected the driver had been drinking.

The driver was arrested and taken to the OPP detachment in Lakeshore for more testing.

Police remind the public to call them if they suspect another driver is impaired. The number is 1-888-310-1122. To reach Crime Stoppers, it's 1-800-222-8477.
