Health unit adds more Leamington addresses to boil water advisory

The Medical Officer of Health in Windsor and Essex County is adding a long list of Leamington addresses to a boil water advisory issued on Wednesday for those serviced by the Wheatley Water Distribution System.

The advisory was issued on Wednesday after a fire erupted in the generator room at the Wheatley Water Treatment Plant. Chatham-Kent Municipal officials said the fire caused significant damage and a drop in water pressure.

Doctor Mehdi Aloosh added the following roads to the advisory on Thursday morning.

Milo Road

Kay Avenue

Beach Avenue

Pulley Road

Addresses 2404 to 2418 on Fox Run Road

Marentette Avenue

Patricia Avenue

Tampa Avenue

Miami Avenue

Lakeshore Drive

Julien Street

Silver Avenue

Carr Avenue

Cotterie Park

Addresses 2120 to 2235 on Mersea Road 2

The health unit advises those residents to use bottled water until further notice for consumption, infant feeding, or food and ice preparation. If they use tap water, bring it to a hard boil for a full minute first.

The boil water advisory is in effect until further notice.
