Health Unit extends boil water advisory in Leamington

The Windsor Essex County Health Unit still wants residents in the Leamington and Wheatley areas to boil their water before using it.

It issued a boil water advisory over a week ago because of low water pressure after a fire at the Wheatley Water Treatment Plant.

The plant still isn't operational and might not be for another 12 to 18 months, according to the Chatham-Kent Public Utilities Commission.

The health unit said those following waterline systems should bring their water to a hard boil at least for a minute before using it.

KOA Waterline Association

Richardson Sideroad Waterline Association

Tecumseh Road Waterline Association

Tilbury Townline Waterline Association

Cedar Inn Waterline Association

Leamington (Wheatley) Distribution System.

In Chatham-Kent, residents in Blenheim, Merlin, Coatsworth, Shrewsbury, Rondeau, and Erieau should conserve water until further notice.

On Wednesday, the commission said the Municipalities of Leamington and Lakeshore provided water for the impacted areas.
