UPDATE: Bargaining with Stellantis begins

Unifor representatives started negotiations with Stellantis Canada on Tuesday.

The local and national bargaining committees are meeting in Toronto with the employer.

"It's our turn, it's go time for us, I'm looking forward to bringing back a good deal for our membership. One that will ratified, one that people will be happy with," said Unifor Local 444 President Dave Cassidy.

In addition to the Windsor Assembly Plant, Stellantis has facilities in Brampton, Etobicoke, Red Deer, and Mississauga, for a total of 8,200 Canadian employees.

A strike deadline has been set for 11:59 p.m. on October 29.

Unifor members who work at Ford Motor Company and General Motors have already ratified pattern-setting agreements.

The agreements included significant wage increases over the life of the agreement, signing bonuses, and commitments to investments in local plants like the Essex Engine Plant.
