Suspect arrested following raid in Amherstburg

Windsor police say a 36-year-old has been arrested in connection with a drug and weapon investigation in Amherstburg.

Members of the Drugs and Guns Enforcement (DIGS) Unit executed a search warrant Wednesday night on McCurdy Drive near Sandwich Street South. Police seized a loaded 9-millimetre handgun, which had been reported stolen; brass knuckles, and 41 Percocet tablets packaged for sale.

The suspect is charged with possession of oxycodone with intent to sell, plus 11 weapons offences, including possession of a prohibited firearm and possession of a stolen firearm.

Sarnia police said the investigation began on May 29 after the victim was allegedly attacked by acquaintances at a residence near Tashmoo Avenue and Christopher Drive at Aamjiwnaang First Nation.
