Arrest warrant out for Whelpton Street arson suspect

Windsor Police issued an arrest warrant for a man they believe is responsible for an intentionally set fire on Whelpton Street in August.

They're looking for 59-year-old John Browning.

He faces arson with disregard for human life, break and enter with intent to commit an indictable offence charges, along with two counts of failing to comply with a probation order.

Firefighters quickly extinguished the fire at a duplex on Whelpton near Albert Road just after 11 p.m. on August 19, but it caused $30,000 in damage.

No one was hurt, but one person was displaced.

During the investigation, police and fire officials discovered multiple areas where the fire was set inside one of the units.

Two men arrested in Tashmoo Ave. standoff

Sarnia police said the investigation began on May 29 after the victim was allegedly attacked by acquaintances at a residence near Tashmoo Avenue and Christopher Drive at Aamjiwnaang First Nation.
