Suspect arrested in Windsor assault and attempted robbery

Windsor police say a man has been charged after a woman was struck on a downtown street.

It happened at around 5:30 p.m. Thursday to Ouellette Avenue near Maiden Lane. Police learned that a man struck a woman in the head, then approached a second woman and violently demanded money.

The suspect was arrested a few minutes later near the scene. No property was taken, and no one was physically hurt.

The 45-year-old man is charged with assault and attempted robbery. The charges have not been proven in court.

Sarnia police said the investigation began on May 29 after the victim was allegedly attacked by acquaintances at a residence near Tashmoo Avenue and Christopher Drive at Aamjiwnaang First Nation.
