Planning director of NextStar Battery Plant expected to speak at conference

Those attending Thursday's Emerging Technologies in Automation Conference and Trade Show will hear from Sungwoo Park, the planning director for the NextStar Energy battery plant in Windsor.

Thursday's conference at Caesars Windsor will attract more than 350 attendees, 45 exhibitors, and 35 presenters.

The conference is a signature event hosted by Invest WindsorEssex in partnership with Automate Canada, the National Research Council of Canada Industrial Research Assistance Program, the Canadian Association of Mold Makers and the Ministry of Economic Development, Job Creation and Trade.

The keynote speaker is John Weigelt, the chief technology officer for Microsoft Canada.

Park, along with Joris Myny, senior vice president of digital industries at Siemens Canada, will participate in a main-stage panel discussion.

Construction on the NextStar Battery Plant continues on Banwell Road in Windsor, and the gigafactory should open next year.

Two men arrested in Tashmoo Ave. standoff

Sarnia police said the investigation began on May 29 after the victim was allegedly attacked by acquaintances at a residence near Tashmoo Avenue and Christopher Drive at Aamjiwnaang First Nation.
