Forest Glade elementary school to hold grand opening Wednesday

A new elementary school in east Windsor will hold its official opening celebration Wednesday.

The new Eastview Horizon Public School on Stillmeadow Road will hold a celebration of completion ceremony.

The ceremony will feature student performances and remarks by speakers such as Windsor-Tecumseh MPP Andrew Dowie, Greater Essex County District School Board Director of Education Vicki Houston, and local board trustee Cathy Cooke.

The school was designed by WalterFedy Architects and built by Fortis Construction. The two-story, 6,000-square-metre school opened in time for the current school year. It has a capacity of 500 students spaces.

The total cost of construction was $13.2 million.

Students from the former Parkview Public School and Eastwood Public School are now in the new building.

The celebration begins at 5 p.m.
