Boblo Island Ferry still out of service

The Boblo Island Ferry isn't expected to be up and running until Friday afternoon.

The ferry, privately owned by Amico Properties, has been out of service since Friday, October 27. Residents were told it would be operational by November 1.

"This is the third or fourth deadline that they've set for themselves that they haven't met. But you can always live in hope," said Amherstburg Mayor Michael Prue. who lives on the island.

The owner of the ferry is waiting on a part to make repairs. Once the part is installed, the Coast Guard and Transport Canada will inspect the ferry before a water test.

Until the ferry resumes service, a pontoon boat will get residents on and off the island.
