OPP arrest suspect after standoff in Leamington

The Ontario Provincial Police has reopened Seacliff Drive East between Erie Street South and Cherry Lane in Leamington after a standoff on Thursday.

Around 5 p.m., the OPP notified the public of a large police presence in the area.

They were conducting an investigation there and asked the public to stay away.

Around 1:30 a.m. on Friday, police, assisted by the OPP Tactics and Rescue Unit, arrested a suspect.

Police said they won't release any more details, but ask anyone with information to call 1-888-310-1122, Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477, or leave a tip online at www.catchcrooks.com.

Sarnia police said the investigation began on May 29 after the victim was allegedly attacked by acquaintances at a residence near Tashmoo Avenue and Christopher Drive at Aamjiwnaang First Nation.
