Spits name interim head coach ahead of game against Petes

Just ahead of a long road trip that will take the Windsor Spitfires from Peterborough to Guelph, the team named an interim head coach.

Casey Torres will fill in a day after the team announced it had fired Jerrod Smith. He was an assistant coach.

During Smith's tenure, the Spitfires had managed only four wins out of 21 games and are currently in last place in the OHL West Division.

General Manager Bill Bowler also announced on X assistant coach Andy Delmore had submitted his resignation.

The Spitfires face the Peterborough Petes on Thursday night, travel to Kingston on Friday, and play Ottawa in the capitol on Sunday. Next Thursday, the team is in Barrie and Guelph on Friday, December 1.

Sarnia police said the investigation began on May 29 after the victim was allegedly attacked by acquaintances at a residence near Tashmoo Avenue and Christopher Drive at Aamjiwnaang First Nation.
