ETFO members to vote on tentative deal online

Teachers who are members of the Elementary Teachers' Federation of Ontario got their first look at the tentative agreement with the Ministry of Education Thursday.

Details of the agreement will not be released until after the ratification vote.

Mario Spagnuolo, a teacher and president of the Greater Essex County Teacher Local, said the union's 80,000 members will vote on the central agreement online over the next two weeks.

The provincial government announced that a tentative three-year deal was reached on Tuesday.

In October, members voted 95 per cent in favour of strike action if necessary.

The government is still negotiating with two teacher's unions the Ontario English Catholic Teachers Association and the Association des enseignantes et des enseignants franco-ontarien.

In September, the Ontario Secondary School Teachers Federation agreed to binding arbitration.
