Windsor police confiscate $64K worth of illicit drugs

One person has been charged after Windsor police raided a dispensary that allegedly sold "magic mushrooms".

At around 4 p.m. Tuesday, officers from the Drugs and Guns (DIGS) Unit executed a search warrant at the business on Ouellette Avenue near University Avenue.

Police seized over 6,000 psilocybin capsules, 1,954 grams of dried psilocybin mushrooms, 1,215 psilocybin-based chocolate bars, 235 grams of psilocybin gummies, and 13 grams of psilocybin hot chocolate.

Also confiscated were 13 DMT vapes, six psilocybin vapes, $1,355 in Canadian cash, and $425 in U.S. cash.

The 21-year-old employee on scene at the time of the raid was arrested and charged with possession of a controlled substance with intent to sell.

Police say the business has been raided more than once, with $46,000 worth of psilocybin-based products confiscated in July and August.

Sarnia police said the investigation began on May 29 after the victim was allegedly attacked by acquaintances at a residence near Tashmoo Avenue and Christopher Drive at Aamjiwnaang First Nation.
