Essex hires a new fire chief

The Town of Essex and Essex Fire and Rescue Services have made it official and appointed Jason Pillon Fire Chief starting Monday.

He's been the Acting Fire Chief since Rick Arnel retired in October.

Pillon is a third-generation firefighter who joined the service as a volunteer at Station 3 in 1997.

Since then, he has also served as a Fire Captain, Battalion Chief, Assistant Deputy Fire Chief, and Deputy Fire Chief.

Pillon worked for over 20 years as a Certified Journeyman Ironworker and Shop Foreman at REFAC Industrial.

New military crosswalk in Sarnia to be unveiled

Two men arrested in Tashmoo Ave. standoff

Sarnia police said the investigation began on May 29 after the victim was allegedly attacked by acquaintances at a residence near Tashmoo Avenue and Christopher Drive at Aamjiwnaang First Nation.
