UPDATE: Windsor police say person in custody after Walkerville standoff

Windsor police say one person was taken into custody following a standoff in Olde Walkerville that lasted over six hours on Sunday.

Multiple police vehicles were seen shortly after noon in the area of Monmouth Road and Niagara Street. Windsor police's mobile command centre and Tactical Unit were deployed.

The person surrendered peacefully at around 6 p.m. Sunday and was turned over to paramedics. The area was reopened soon afterwards.

Police say there was no threat to public safety.

New military crosswalk in Sarnia to be unveiled

Two men arrested in Tashmoo Ave. standoff

Sarnia police said the investigation began on May 29 after the victim was allegedly attacked by acquaintances at a residence near Tashmoo Avenue and Christopher Drive at Aamjiwnaang First Nation.
