Ernie "The Baconman" passes away

Perennial mayoral candidate Ernie "The Baconman" Lamont passed away Thursday at the age of 76.

Lamont had been in hospice care since November following a cancer diagnosis in June of 2022.

Lamont was known for selling pepperettes in local bars and ran for Windsor mayor five times.

He had many grand ideas for the city including funding an amusement park, opening a second casino and turning Windsor Arena into a homeless shelter.

New military crosswalk in Sarnia to be unveiled

Sarnia police said the investigation began on May 29 after the victim was allegedly attacked by acquaintances at a residence near Tashmoo Avenue and Christopher Drive at Aamjiwnaang First Nation.
