Pedestrian suffers serious injuries

A pedestrian is recovering after being struck by a vehicle at the intersection of Sandwich Street and Mill Street Thursday afternoon.

Police were called to the intersection just before 3 p.m.

The 24-year-old pedestrian was taken to the hospital with serious but non-life-threatening injuries.

Investigators discovered that a vehicle turning southeast on Mill Street from Sandwich Street struck the pedestrian. The driver stayed on the scene. Charges are expected.

The investigation is ongoing. Anyone who witnessed the collision or has information about the incident is urged to contact the Traffic Enforcement Unit at 519-945-9645.

Sarnia police said the investigation began on May 29 after the victim was allegedly attacked by acquaintances at a residence near Tashmoo Avenue and Christopher Drive at Aamjiwnaang First Nation.
