American man charged with attempted murder after woman struck by car in Windsor

A 23 year-old man from Philadelphia is facing a number of charges, including attempted murder, after a woman was allegedly struck by a vehicle intentionally.

Windsor police said that just after 10:30 p.m. on Friday officers were called to the area of Riverside Drive West and Ferry Street for a collision involving a pedestrian.

At the scene police found a 21 year-old woman with non-life threatening injuries where she was taken to hospital.

Police also said the driver left the scene before officers arrived.

During the investigation, police discovered that the driver deliberately hit the woman after a verbal altercation.

It was also found that the suspect and the victim were involved in an intimate partner relationship and earlier that day the man allegedly assaulted the victim and kept her against her will.

Among the charges the 23 year-old is facing is attempted murder, assault, assault by choking, forcible confinement and failure to remain at the scene of an accident.

Two men arrested in Tashmoo Ave. standoff

Sarnia police said the investigation began on May 29 after the victim was allegedly attacked by acquaintances at a residence near Tashmoo Avenue and Christopher Drive at Aamjiwnaang First Nation.
