Several facing charges after retail thefts throughout the holidays

The Essex County OPP Community Street Crime Unit was busy over the holiday season.

During a proactive retail shoplifting blitz between December 6 and 14, officers worked with businesses to identify active shoplifters.

As a result, nine people were arrested and charged with a total of 24 charges. Over $2,000 of stolen merchandise was recovered during the blitz.

The Community Street Crime Unit was also actively investigating break-and-enter and shoplifting incidents at three Lakeshore businesses.

This investigation led to the arrest of a 34-year-old Windsor man. He's been charged with break and enter, possessing a break and enter instrument, mischief under $5,000, and theft under $5,000.

Two men arrested in Tashmoo Ave. standoff

Sarnia police said the investigation began on May 29 after the victim was allegedly attacked by acquaintances at a residence near Tashmoo Avenue and Christopher Drive at Aamjiwnaang First Nation.
