UPDATE: One person arrested after standoff in Kingsville

Essex County OPP says one person is in police custody after an hours-long standoff in Kingsville.

According to the OPP on Friday, the incident involving a barricaded person started at around 2 p.m. on Thursday at a residence on Main Street in Kingsville.

Police contained the area with the support of the West Region Tactics and Rescue Unit, Emergency Response Team, and members of the Repeat Offender Parole Enforcement (ROPE) Squad.

A 41-year-old Windsor man was taken into custody and turned over to Windsor police. No charges have been filed.

Main Street between Spruce Street and Pearl Street reopened Thursday evening.

Police thank the public for their cooperation.

Two men arrested in Tashmoo Ave. standoff

Sarnia police said the investigation began on May 29 after the victim was allegedly attacked by acquaintances at a residence near Tashmoo Avenue and Christopher Drive at Aamjiwnaang First Nation.
