High levels of air pollution are possible this afternoon.

An AIR QUALITY WARNING is in place due to the possibility of deteriorating air quality. Hot and sunny conditions are expected to cause increasing ground-level ozone concentrations this afternoon. Moderate risk AQHI values are expected throughout the day with the potential of short-term high risk AQHI values in the afternoon.

When air pollution levels are high, everyone should limit time outdoors. Consider reducing or rescheduling outdoor sports, activities and events.

You may experience mild and common symptoms such as eye, nose and throat irritation, headaches or a mild cough. More serious but less common symptoms include wheezing, chest pains or severe cough. If you think you are having a medical emergency, seek immediate medical assistance.

People more likely to be impacted by outdoor air pollution, including people aged 65 and older, pregnant people, infants and young children, people with an existing illness or chronic health condition, and people who work outdoors, should reduce or reschedule strenuous activities outdoors and seek medical attention if experiencing symptoms.

A man wanted by the Waterloo Regional Police Service has ties to the Windsor Area. According to police, 44 year-old Christopher Lougheed is from Kitchener but frequents the area. Lougheed is wanted on five warrants for numerous offences. He is wanted on charges of theft over $5,000, possession of property over $5,000, flight from police, careless driving, theft under $5,000, possession of stolen property of under $5,000, operation while prohibited and failure to comply with a release order.Anyone with information is being asked to contact Waterloo Regional police at 519-570-9777 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477.
