Public board, ETFO reach tentative deal for occasional teachers

The English-language public school board serving Windsor-Essex has reached a tentative agreement with another group of educators.

The Greater Essex County District School Board (GECDSB) announced Thursday that it had reached a potential deal with the Elementary Teachers Federation of Ontario (ETFO) local that represents about 400 occasional teachers.

"This tentative agreement was arrived at through a collaborative, interest-based bargaining process and represents the best possible outcome for both parties," said GECDSB spokesman Scott Scantlebury.

There is no word yet on the terms of the agreement or when a ratification vote will take place.

If the deal is approved by the membership, it will cover the period between September 1, 2022, and August 31, 2026.
