Local housing sales dip in March

For the first time in 2024, housing sales dipped in Windsor and Essex County.

The latest figures from the Windsor Essex County Association of Realtors showed a 10.29 per cent drop in sales last month after increases in January and February.

Realtors sold 401 properties compared to 447 in March 2023.

Sales are still up 2.56 per cent in the first quarter of this year compared to 12 months ago. Between January 1 and March 31, 1,017 properties changed hands compared to 1,043 during the same period in 2024.

The number of properties on the market fell from 866 last March to 828, down 4.39 per cent. Listings for the entire first quarter still increased by 1.9 per cent, thanks to the strong showing in the first two months.

At the time the association published its statistics, 1,240 properties were available in the region.

The average price fell 1.32 per cent to $563,309 from $570,863 12 months before.

Sarnia police said the investigation began on May 29 after the victim was allegedly attacked by acquaintances at a residence near Tashmoo Avenue and Christopher Drive at Aamjiwnaang First Nation.
