Young person facing assault charges

A 16-year-old is facing charges after an assault near Remington Park Wednesday.

Around 4:30 p.m. officers responded to a report that a person was sprayed with a noxious substance in the area of Lillian Avenue and Edinborough Street.

The victim told police he was approached by the suspect who yelled a racial slur before spraying him in the face with a harmful chemical.

The victim was sent to the hospital with minor injuries.

A suspect was identified and the 16-year-old was arrested at his home. He is facing charges of assault with a weapon, administering a noxious substance and failing to comply with a release order.

Two men arrested in Tashmoo Ave. standoff

Sarnia police said the investigation began on May 29 after the victim was allegedly attacked by acquaintances at a residence near Tashmoo Avenue and Christopher Drive at Aamjiwnaang First Nation.
