Lakeshore Fire responds to vehicle fire on Hwy. 401

A tractor-trailer fire in Lakeshore briefly closed the eastbound lanes of Highway 401 early Thursday morning.

The Lakeshore Ontario Provincial Police and Lakeshore Fire and Recuse were called to the scene just east of Puce Road around 4:30 a.m.

The driver of the truck was travelling eastbound when he saw smoke inside his vehicle.

He pulled over to the shoulder and disconnected the tractor from the trailer, getting out before it ignited.

The tractor was destroyed but the trailer sustained no damage.

The transport truck was not carrying any dangerous materials and no one was hurt.

Sarnia police said the investigation began on May 29 after the victim was allegedly attacked by acquaintances at a residence near Tashmoo Avenue and Christopher Drive at Aamjiwnaang First Nation.
