The Ontario Provincial Police has arrested a man in Tecumseh who has been on the run for eight years.
Gurfathe Kooner faced three years and one day in jail for a list of firearm-related charges when he disappeared before his sentencing hearing in Windsor on April 6, 2016.
The Repeat Offender Parole Enforcement Squad, with the assistance of the OPP Tactical Rescue Unit, Emergency Response Unit, OPP K-9 Unit, and officers from the Windsor Police Service arrested Kooner at a home on Manning Road on Tuesday morning.
The OPP wanted Kooner for firearm-related charges, including possession of a prohibited or restricted firearm with ammunition, unauthorized possession of a firearm in a motor vehicle, and possession of a firearm knowing it is tampered with.
Other charges he faced were unauthorized possession of a prohibited device or ammunition, two counts of breach of recognizance, uttering death threats, and failing to attend court.
He now faces a charge of being unlawfully at large.
Windsor Police also had Kooner on their wanted list for four counts of fraud over $5,000.
