Plans have been announced for the second year of a four-year golf event.
The Roseland Responder Golf Classic will return to Windsor's Roseland Golf Course on June 14. The four-event will end in 2026, coinciding with the 100th anniversary of golf at the City-owned course.
The golf classic supports Windsor-Essex first responders, including Windsor Police, Windsor Fire and Rescue, and Essex-Windsor EMS.
Last year, the event raised $42,000 for the Windsor Fire Benefit Fund, the Canadian Mental Health Association, and the Law Enforcement Torch Run for Special Olympics Ontario.
"It’s a legacy of the Can-Am Police Fire Games and a wonderful opportunity to be shared with our police and fire colleagues," said Essex-Windsor EMS Chief Justin Lammers. "While EMS has chosen CMHA as a benefactor, all responders will benefit from the proceeds of this tournament. We look forward to teeing up in June."
The day will begin with registration and a complimentary breakfast provided by Tim Hortons. Tee times and golf carts will be offered to foursomes starting at 7:30 a.m. A boxed lunch at the Halfway Hut area will be offered, followed by an “Off Duty Lounge” reception with beverages and a barbecue dinner.
Golfers will have a chance to participate in contests for prizes, along with player gift bags and a Fire Truck Ball Drop fundraiser.
