UPDATE: Bodies of missing swimmers recovered

Windsor Police have recovered the bodies of two men who went missing in the water near Sandpoint Beach Thursday evening.

Officers were called to the beach around 7 p.m. where two men were swimming just west of the beach when they suddenly went under the water and did not resurface.

The discovery of the men was made shortly before 8 p.m. Friday.

The marine unit, Windsor Fire and Rescue Services, Emergency Medical Services and the Canadian and U.S. Coast Guards helped with the search.

The two men were described as East Indian, in their 20s, and wearing swimming trunks.

Police said that the deaths are not being treated as suspicious.

Sarnia police said the investigation began on May 29 after the victim was allegedly attacked by acquaintances at a residence near Tashmoo Avenue and Christopher Drive at Aamjiwnaang First Nation.
