A family is being recognized for contributions made in the community with its name on a new student residence.
Preliminary work is underway for a new dormitory at the University of Windsor, which will be named Rodzik Hall after a family of local philanthropists.
"Rodzik Hall will be a welcoming, vibrant, and inclusive space that will benefit our students, staff, faculty, parents, and entire community," said U of W President and Vice-Chancellor Dr. Robert Gordon. "Having it named in honour of the Rodzik family is exceptionally fitting, given their unwavering commitment to the University and dedication to students, both now and for generations to come."
The residence hall, to be built on Sunset Avenue and Wyandotte Street West, will include 238 units and 452 beds, with private, barrier-free, and double occupancy options available.
Rodzik Hall will also include six community lounges, a house lounge, and a shared laundry. There will also be a dining hall with a variety of food options, including a coffee shop and a Global Fresh Market.
The family is being recognized for various contributions across Windsor-Essex.
"Rodzik Hall symbolizes our commitment to supporting the educational journey and well-being of students here at the University of Windsor," said Don Ridzik Sr. "We are honoured to contribute to a project that will have a lasting impact on the university and the broader community."
The residence is set to open in time for the 2025-26 academic year.
