High levels of air pollution are possible this afternoon.

An AIR QUALITY WARNING is in place due to the possibility of deteriorating air quality. Hot and sunny conditions are expected to cause increasing ground-level ozone concentrations this afternoon. Moderate risk AQHI values are expected throughout the day with the potential of short-term high risk AQHI values in the afternoon.

When air pollution levels are high, everyone should limit time outdoors. Consider reducing or rescheduling outdoor sports, activities and events.

You may experience mild and common symptoms such as eye, nose and throat irritation, headaches or a mild cough. More serious but less common symptoms include wheezing, chest pains or severe cough. If you think you are having a medical emergency, seek immediate medical assistance.

People more likely to be impacted by outdoor air pollution, including people aged 65 and older, pregnant people, infants and young children, people with an existing illness or chronic health condition, and people who work outdoors, should reduce or reschedule strenuous activities outdoors and seek medical attention if experiencing symptoms.

A 24-year-old man faces charges after a crash on Tuesday that shut down a section of Wyandotte Street East for hours.Windsor Police say around 4 p.m., a northbound motorcycle struck the side of an eastbound SUV at the intersection of Pierre Avenue and Wyandotte Street.The motorcyclist fled.Paramedics took him to the hospital with minor injuries after police found him in a nearby alleyway.Police charged the motorcyclist with failure to remain at the scene of an accident and failure to comply with a release order.The charges have not been proven in court.The intersection reopened around 7 p.m.* With files from Mark Brown
