Malfunctioning HVAC cause of Windsor fire

Windsor fire officials say an east-end fire was caused by a malfunctioning heating-and-cooling unit.

Firefighters were called around 1 p.m. Tuesday to a business on Tecumseh Road East near Westminster Boulevard.

Light smoke was seen coming from the building, according to Windsor Fire and Rescue, and crews worked to find the source.

It turned out to be coming from a rooftop heating, cooling, and ventilation system.

There were no reports of injuries or damage to the business.

It was the second fire reported by Windsor crews on Tuesday afternoon, with the other being an apartment building on Ouellette Avenue.
