Tecumseh man busted doing twice the speed limit

LaSalle police have cited a driver who allegedly showed the need for speed this past Friday.

An officer stopped the driver on Highway 18 near River Road late Friday morning. A radar device showed the driver traveling 100 kilometres per hour, or double the 50 kilometre per hour speed limit.

A 38-year-old man from Tecumseh was cited for stunt driving, and issued a summons to appear in court to respond to the charge.

The man's licence was suspended for 30 days, and the vehicle was towed away. It will be impounded for 14 days. The driver is responsible for towing and storage fees.

If convicted, the fine is a minimum of $2,000.
