High-risk offender faces new charges while out on bail

A 33-year-old man facing a list of violent crime charges is back in police custody for allegedly violating his bail conditions.

Windsor Police say Kyle Heywood is charged with assault with a weapon, assault causing bodily harm, forcible confinement, theft of a motor vehicle, driving dangerously, fleeing from a police officer, and breach of probation.

He was placed under house arrest and prohibited from driving, but members of the Offender Management Unit had evidence he was not adhering to the conditions of his release.

On Tuesday, officers from the Windsor Police Service, the Ontario Provincial Police Repeat Offender Parole Enforcement Squad, and the OPP Emergency Response Team arrested Heywood at a home in Kingsville.

He faces another seven counts, five for failure to comply with a release order and two for driving while under suspension.

The Offender Management Unit, a partnership between Windsor and LaSalle Police, launched last March to supervise high-risk offenders placed under house arrest, curfew, or electronic monitoring.
