Windsor police say three men have been charged after a violent home invasion on the Fourth of July.
Officers were called to a home on Lincoln Road near Erie Street East at around 7 a.m. on Thursday, July 4. When they arrived, they found a critically injured man lying unconscious outside the garage. He was rushed to hospital where he remains in intensive care.
Police learned that the man surprised three men who were robbing his garage. When the victim confronted the intruders, he was assaulted with weapons before the men fled.
One suspect was arrested later that morning at Windsor Regional Hospital's Met Campus. A second suspect was picked up later that evening at a home on Albert Road near Whelpton Street.
A third suspect, a 38-year-old man, was arrested Friday.
All three men, including those 35 and 57 years old, are charged with robbery, aggravated assault, assault with a weapon, and break-and-enter with intent to commit an indictable offence. The 57-year-old man is also charged with assault causing bodily harm.
The charges have not been proven in court.
