Leamington man charged with assault, making threats

Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) say a man has been charged following an incident Tuesday evening in Leamington.

Officers responded at around 9:30 p.m. to a location on Clark Street East. A man was on the premises with what police described as an edged weapon. The suspect was found at the scene and arrested without incident.

No injuries were reported.

The 39-year-old Leamington resident is charged with two counts of assault with a weapon, two counts of uttering threats, three counts of failure to comply with a probation order, and one count of mischief under $5,000.

The charges have not been proven in court.

The man was held pending a bail hearing at the Ontario Superior Court of Justice in Windsor.

Sarnia police said the investigation began on May 29 after the victim was allegedly attacked by acquaintances at a residence near Tashmoo Avenue and Christopher Drive at Aamjiwnaang First Nation.
